Protecting your privacy

This Privacy Policy applies to the services offered by Mini Me Therapy (the company). We are committed to protecting your privacy and this privacy policy oulines how we manage your Personal Information which aim to comply with the National Privacy Principles (NPPs) contained in the Privacy Act 1988 and related Amendments (the Privacy Act). The NPPs govern the way in which we collect, use, disclose, store, secure and dispose of your personal and sensitive information.

What personal information do we collect and why do we need it?

We collect your Personal Information for the primary purpose of facilitating effective service delivery to our clients. Personal Information is obtained in many ways including registration forms, online questionnaires and website contact forms and from third parties. We don’t guarantee website links or policy of authorised third parties. Personal and sensitive information such as contact details and health-related information to assess your health needs will assist us to develop treatment plans and the implement care. 'Personal information' is any information we hold about you from which your identity is either clear or can be reasonably determined such as name and contact details. ‘Sensitive information’ is a type of personal information relating to health, race or religious information.

When personal and sensitive information is collected we will endeavour to explain to you why we are collecting the information and how we plan to use it.

 

Third Parties

Where reasonable and practicable to do so, we will collect your Personal Information directly from you. However, in some cases, information may be provided by a third party. In these instances, reasonable steps will be taken to ensure you are aware of the information provided by the third party. We may also need to contact others such as your referring practitioner and others involved with your health care.

 

Storage of personal information

Your Personal Information is stored in a manner that reasonably protects it from misuse and loss and from unauthorized access, modification or disclosure. Information provided electronically is kept on a secure online server and those provided in physical format are kept in a locked cupboard. All client information is destroyed according to legislative requirements.

 

Use of your personal information

The personal information you provide to Mini Me Therapy is collected for the purpose of conducting our business. Other than for our own business purposes, your personal information will not be disclosed to third parties outside of Mini Me Therapy, other than for a purpose made known to you and to which you have consented, or unless required by law. We will not disclose sensitive information about you unless you agree or would reasonably expect us to.

 

Access to your personal information

Unless we are required to provide your personal information to others by law, by court order or to investigate unlawful activity, your information will generally only be seen or used by staff involved in providing your care. You may access the Personal Information we hold about you and to update and/or correct it, subject to certain exceptions. If you wish to access your Personal Information, please contact us in writing.

 

Quality of your personal information

It is an important part of providing our services to you that your personal information is up to date. We take reasonable steps to make sure that your personal information is accurate, complete and up to date. If you think that your personal information is not up to date or requires amending, please advise us as soon as reasonably possible so that our records can be updated.

If you have any queries or complaints regarding our Privacy Policy or the way in which your personal information is being handled, please contact us at admin@minimetherapy.com.au or on our website. If the parties involved are unable to reach a satisfactory solution, you may wish to request an independent person to investigate the complaint such as the Office of the Australian Privacy Commissioner.
